John LaRue is
• a senior graphic designer

• a freelance baseball and movie writer 
• a one-stop shop for data viz research, writing, design, and editorial work. 
His professional exploits include over a decade working in higher education, and three years in professional baseball as a media relations director. Many people know him as "That guy who made those Breaking Bad infographics." 
His work has been published in The Best American Infographics 2013 and I Love Charts: The Book. Amongst other locations, his work has appeared or been linked to on Slate, Grantland, io9, Wired, and was featured as the Fast Co. Design Infographic of the Day. Most recently, he has written multiple articles- with accompanying data visualizations- for The Hardball Times.  
His interests include an undying passion for the game of baseball and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, movies and the films of multiple movie directors (ask for a list!), craft beer, dogs, data journalism, variant hot dog forms, college football, and the television universe of Vince Gilligan. Also, the Oxford comma. 
He's one hell of a nice guy, complete with a genuine "aw shucks" folksy Midwestern politeness. Dogs like him a lot.
